Call for Artists and Artwork Submissions:
- 2007 GCI International Conference and Arts Festival on the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) in Calabar, Nigeria 29th November to 2nd December 2007.
Venue:
- Calabar cultural Centre Calabar City (with about 4,000 students of 14-30yrs in attendance from Nigeria and Ghana).
Deadline for abstract submission:
- October 27th, 2007
- Late Art work submissions will not be accepted.
- Below is the guideline for your submission.

Guidelines for Submission of Art work submissions:
- All participating artists for the Art Exhibition are expected to under any of the Millennium Development Goals-MDGs.
- Artists can exhibit works using any medium: ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, photography etc
- Please use a concise title that indicates the content of the Art works submitted.
The format for submission should be as follows:
- Titles of Art works
- Name and Address of Artist (s)
- Name and Address of exhibiting artists and to whom correspondence should be addressed.
Art works should include:
- Title
- Description of works
- Medium
- Age
- Artist’s statement
- Dimension/size of works.
- Art images (on .jpeg) and other presentations should be sent by email to: Program Officer on gcampusinitiative@yahoo.com
Deadline for submissions is:
- 5th November, 2007
Please forward all enquires to:
- The GCI International Festival Secretary, Calabar 2007 using the email address above.
- The Participating Artists must register for the conference online at: www.gcafy.org.
- All art works must be sent to Calabar Museums before the 26th of November 2007 for mounting.
Partners Exhibition Guidelines
- The GCI 2007 Conference/Arts Festival will offer opportunities to both commercial and non-commercial organizations to showcase their products and services to the largest gathering of Nigerian and Ghanaian youths.
- About 50 organizations will be represented, reaching the more than 6,000 participants expected.
- Participants will include GCI Advisory council, Board of Directors, representatives of Partner companies, Top chart Actors and Actresses, Musicians, Sponsors, researchers, scientists, doctors and other health care providers, political and grass-roots leaders and people living with HIV/AIDS..
Applying for Exhibition Space
- Companies and Organizations wishing to exhibit at the conference/Festival, more information on the floor plans and the list of exhibitors should contact:
- The GCI International Festival Secretary, Calabar 2007
- Exhibition fee N20, 000.00 or ($200) for the duration of conference. Stand fittings will be provided.
- The Conference brochure will be in booklet format. The size will be A4. There are pages set aside for adverts. Advertises will provide the art works on Electronic form in a CD.

- Payments must be made on or before 28th October, 2007.
- There will be provision in the programme for presentation of products at the rate of N50, 000.00 presentations.
Satellite Meetings
- Intended for Conference participants, satellite meetings are fully organized and coordinated by the party hosting the satellite (private company, government agency, institution or NGO).
- GCI have made satellite slots available for a fee, which is based on the room capacity and the time slot, and slots have been allocated based on the overall programme of the day.
Affiliated Events
- Organisations or groups that wish to schedule meetings or activities in conjunction with GCI 2007 should write to info@gcafy.org for the Affiliated Event Request Form. Individuals requesting an Affiliated Event should be registered attendees for GCI 2007.
- The 2007 GCI Annual All-students Conference and Arts Festival desires to maintain the aim and integrity of the event and therefore, your detailed information must be received and approved in advance, in writing. ALL Affiliated Events must being held in conjunction with GCI 2007.
- Official Affiliated Events are held off the main Conference site and may include a broader range of venues, time length and formats and include: symposia, company meetings, dinners and receptions, investigator group meetings, workshops, debates and pre-conferences. Events must be issue specific (e.g. Gender, HIV/AIDS, harm reduction, faith-based, Drug abuse etc), and organised by registered bodies or corporations.
- Organisations applying for an Affiliated Event in conjunction with the 2007 GCI Annual All-students Conference and Arts Festival need to follow strict guidelines in respect to time and venue.
- The Conference organisers reserve the right to approve or reject any Affiliated Events applications, and may decline a request, wholly or partially that, in its opinion, is not keeping with the character or purpose of the 2007 GCI Annual All-students Conference and Arts Festival.
- Organisations are responsible for any direct costs of their event such as food and beverage, room rental, audio-visual equipment, etc.
Rules and Guidelines for Affiliated Events
- The sponsoring company/organisation is responsible for the actions of its employees and/or agents, and GCI 2007 will expect them to follow the Guidelines for Affiliated Events.
- It is the GCI 2007 Programme Committee’s expectation that individuals will respect and support the meeting’s philosophy, atmosphere, and policies.
- Failure of any company, non-profit organisation, or working group, and its agents or employees to follow these guidelines may result in the loss of the company, organisation, or group’s ability to register an Affiliated Event at future GCI Festivals and Conferences.
Criteria for selection as an Official Affiliated Event include
- Affiliated Events should reflect and/or support the vision and goals of the conference/Arts Festival. Affiliated Events should address issues around youth development and the MDGs.
- The affiliated event programme should reflect Conference policies and goals.
Permitted Times for Functions- Not ready
- The GCI 2007 Conference does not permit sales of the pre-registration forms for affiliated events.
- There are other methods of advertising the Affiliated Event, including flyers on-site, advertising in publications, bag inserts, etc.
