Our Activities in 2004
- We had a HIV/AIDS Awareness campaign through an Arts competitions by
Nigerian Girls of 8 – 24 years –Cartoon for Life” with a round up
program - art exhibitions, inviting groups and other cooperate bodies,
Ministries on Advocacy for policies concerning the education of the
girl-child and children with HIV/AIDS (from January – November 2004).a
one day workshop/prize giving for the winners from the 3 sates to mark
the worlds AIDS day on the 1st of Dec.2004.
- HIV/AIDS awareness workshop for girls from Anambra,Enugu,and Ebonyi
states to mark the World AIDS day in support of Global Movement For
Children –Lessons For Life in December 2004
- Participated in an arts exhibition organised by Enugu state
government in collaboration with Alliance Franciase –“Mother and child
salt of earth” We are still conducting our training classes that run in
all our branches every 2 weeks in all the branches 2004.
- Celebrated the world youth’s day 2004 with lectures on sugar daddies
and the Nigeria girl: its relationship to the spread of HIV/AIDS, by
also publishing articles by Nigerian girls on this topic through the
media.
- Produced a theatre troupe on Child trafficking, 2004.
- Card making and designing classes /arts exhibition by members 2004.
- Presentations/Arts exhibition by members of GCAF at the 4th African
Regional conference Child Abuse and neglect: Theme child trafficking a
challenge to child protection in Africa organised by ANPCANN&ISPCAN
international conference in Enugu, Nigeria 2004.
- Up loading regular information update on GCAF web site-www.gcafy.org
- Media enlightenment on the importance of the topic “Educate the girl
child and educate the Nation” to mark the 2005. (30minites life
discussion program on Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN).
- DANCE FEST 2004 was the first dance festival, which was done with
schools in Ebonyi and Enugu states of Nigeria. The project is aimed at
using the dance as a mode of conveying messages on MDGs for youths and
children. The zonal of the competition was held in 16 educational zones
screening through 278 schools’ cultural dance troupes. Cultural dances
was used as a means of inculcating positive values in the modern
Nigerian child and for children to know the meaning of the dance they do
and why they dance-.The finals was held at the French Centre on the 27th
of November 2004.
